Earth, Wind and Fire (EWF) - The Ultimate Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday

I know, I know, I'm a day late and a dollar short. It's Friday and I'm posting Throwback Thursday. I promise that I have not lost my mind; rather, the reality is that I've been trying do this weekly post for about a month now and I am determined to get it in.

Message In the Music

There's Always and Forever a message in the music. Sound familiar? Always and Forever became THE signature love song of all time and now I have just inserted the title in a random sentence.

R&B music has power and tells stories; it can clear up a cloudy day; and it certainly can drive home a point with "mic dropped" nostalgia.

As a teenager, I had a lot of down days and when I think about it, I'm not sure I could have made it through without the meditative sounds of Earth, Wind and Fire. Even the name that the band chose to call themselves is soothing.  And why wouldn't it be? We're talking about the elements of the universe. ♬  ♬  Ain't funny that how you feel shows on your face, ain't no matter how you try to hide it states your case. ♬That one line tells almost an entire story and that's what makes Earth, Wind and Fire so special to me. It was a song that spoke to my disposition in life at the time; that described exactly how I felt a lot of the time; and in a weird way kept me going. They are masterful storytellers.

In case you didn't know....

Earth, Wind & Fire is an American band that has spanned the musical genres of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, pop, rock, Latin, African and gospel. They are one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of the twentieth century.[1][2]Rolling Stone has described them as "innovative, precise yet sensual, calculated yet galvanizing" and has also declared that the band "changed the sound of black pop".[3]The band is also known as having been the first African-American act to sell out Madison Square Garden and to receive the MSG Gold Ticket Award.[2] President Barack Obama invited Earth, Wind & Fire to perform at the White House for the first social event of the new administration.[2]~Wikipedia

What is that one song that tells your story? Is it throwback Thursday material?
